As posted earlier Casey is getting married. This unfortnately leaves us short one awesome performer for a while. And in light of all the effort, time and money needed to plan a wedding, Casey is offering his wonderful mount for sale. Katie is an 8yr Thoroughbred mare. She has been DNA approved for breeding through AQHA. She is 15′2 hands with no white markings. She is extremely quiet esp. for a TB. She loves to be on the trail but is well versed in the ring as well. Please send a message to Kim Nader if interested.

I must Thank Ed and Nancy for their wonderful hospitality. A pleasant event as always. We had a blast even with the rain. I was happy with the squires, the horses, us and everyone involved. Hope we all can make it back for next year.

Just as the dentist said, Katie is a new horse. She is SO much happier, when bridling this weekend for a trail ride she happily opened her mouth for her bit. Before it was a great chore to get her bitted. It is amazing how much a simple thing can do to make a happier horse

To all, it is very important to your horses to keep their teeth mantained. The dentist came out to the barn today and it was interesting to see the difference between the horses we have had for a while and the new ones that were added over the past year. All our guys needed minor filing and were very easy to get their teeth back in order, however two of the three new ones needed a LOT of work. Poor Katie was the worse. She had to be given double sedative just so the dentist could work the way he needed to and when he was done, he told me we will now see a completely different horse. She must have been miserable with the amount of sharp teeth she had, poor baby. Pete was bad too, but was quiet enough to only need a light sedative, but it was hard to reach all the way up to his big head. Libby was in the best shape for the new ones and may have been done in the past, but boy is she a lightweight when it comes to sedation. All in all a good visit, a bunch of groggy ponies put back into the field. I cannot wait to see how this changes some eating habits and behaviors.

Thank goodness for clear weather, we were finally able to get into the woods this weekend. The horses had a blast, totally enjoying the change of scenery. Sweety gross creatures but I think eneryone needed the break.

This morning at the barn was quite amusing. The horses got to go out this morning after being in for two days due to the cold and mud. I let Pete out of his stall first today, he meandered out and went exploring, so I went on and let Eddie (boarders horse) out and he happily trit trotted out and all a sudden I heard this loud pounding sound and looked up to see Pete had realized it was time to go out and decided to jet for the door. First wow, he does know how to run and two wow, those big feet make a lot of noise. Katie was the next bit of extra excitement this morning, she trotted briskly out of her stall to the paddock door and decided she didn’t want to go out into the mud, so she turns and tries for the back door which is often drier but closed, so she comes back, makes a big lap around the barn and gets the nerve to leap out the gate into the mud. Once out they were a sight, Katie was hopping up and down in the dry areas of the paddocks, the others were all running around, mud was flying everywhere, they will be gross tonight.

This past weekend was a blast. The kids are learning the games and becoming very good riders. We have a lot of fun at “pratice”. I feel that is the best way, if you don’t enjoy what you’re doing, then why bother. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this weekend and we can get into the woods.
